Job summary

Western Union Technology Services is seeking a Backend Developer to design, develop and test new Dash features on Singapore's first all-in-one mobile payments solution. You will work with architects to ensure scalable, secure backend systems and embrace CI/CD practices.

Applicants should have 5+ years backend experience with Spring Boot, Java, and API gateways, along with RESTful APIs, NoSQL and relational databases. Experience in DevOps and automated testing is required.

Qualifications

Job description

The Backend Developer will be part of the technology team in Western Union Technology Services supporting the Dash business, which is Singapore's first all-in-one mobile payments solution. His/her main responsibility is to design, develop, integrate and test new Dash features, building on top of and maintaining the existing backend applications.

He/she shall work with the architects to maintain technical oversight on software solution, ensure software design adopts modern mobile application frameworks, and embrace CI/CD pipeline for software delivery where applicable. He/she shall be proficient in microservices, API gateways, NoSQL and distributed software development using one or more development methodologies/delivery models (e.g. Agile/Scrum), while ensuring the software addresses requirements of security, availability/performance, and maintainability.

Mandatory Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in IT/Computer Science/Computer Engineering or relevant discipline
• At least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in mobile application development using agile or DevOps methodology
• At least 5 years of backend / server development experience based on a Spring Boot framework
• At least 3 years of experience with web/application server and Java native development
• At least 3 years of experience in API gateway development
• Experience in Restful APIs and web services
• Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases
• Experience with automated test driven approaches to software development and working in CI/CD based environments
• Experience in software security tools and concepts
• At least 1 project utilizing DevOps and software automation with unit testing and functional testing
