Job summary

GIC seeks an AVP/VP Data Scientist in the Investment Insights Group in Singapore. You will join the data science and innovation team to build AI solutions that support enterprise-wide users, including investment and corporate functions.

The role requires formal quantitative training, strong LLM experience, and solid software engineering and statistical fundamentals, with 3+ years of ML engineering. You will work end-to-end from data gathering to model deployment.

Qualifications

• Formal training in a quantitative discipline (CS, physics, math, finance, engineering, etc.)
• LLM experience in industry settings is a must
• Strong in software engineering and best practices (e.g. code smell, single-responsibility principle)
• Strong in statistical fundamentals; experience with hypothesis testing and sampling
• Understanding of financial markets and multi-asset research is a plus
• Experience managing and accessing data in investment management research
• Ability to work end-to-end on research projects from data gathering to model implementation
• At least 3 years of hands-on engineering experience with data science or ML projects
• Good communication skills; able to explain results to stakeholders

Data Science & Innovation Team

You will be part of a team of data scientists for building AI solutions to support GIC enterprise-wide users. As the Center of Excellence for AI in GIC, you will get to build advanced tools and platforms that impact all departments of GIC, including both investment and corporate functions. You will have opportunity to work in both central team or to work directly with stakeholder departments.

What will you do as a Data Scientist?

• The data science and innovation team is looking for a data scientist with extensive experience in LLM and other machine learning or data science areas
• Design and implement AI workflows to solve business problems
• Deploy AI solutions to productions and iterate based on user feedback
• Independently conduct research on idea generation in the investment process and corporate function support

What Qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

• Formal training in quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Finance, Engineering, or other quantitative discipline), and experience in utilizing those skills in an applied research environment
• LLM experience in industry settings is a must
• Strong in software engineering and best practices (e.g. code smell, single-responsibility principle, functional programming)
• Strong in statistical fundamentals, experience conducting hypothesis testing and sampling highly desirable, with demonstrated programming skills highly desirable
• Understanding of financial markets, including multi-asset research is a plus
• Understanding of data available in the investment management industry and experience in managing and accessing such data to support research efforts
• Ability to work efficiently and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment. This will include end-to-end research project work under from data gathering to hypothesis testing and model implementation
• At least 3 years of hands-on engineering experience with software projects related to data science or machine learning
• Good communication skills. Able to explain results of their work clearly to stakeholders
