Job summary

GMP Technologies (S) Pte Ltd is seeking an Automation Technician (Shift) to support automation systems, diagnose faults, and perform preventive maintenance in a West Singapore facility. The role includes calibration of field instruments and backup/restoration of machine programs, with work orders logged in the Maximo system.

The ideal candidate holds ITC/Nitec or Diploma in related engineering fields and has 3 years’ experience in pharma/nutrition manufacturing or automation in food processing.

Qualifications

• ITC/Nitec/Higher Nitec or Diploma in Control/Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics/Instrumentation Engineering or related discipline.
• 3 years of experience in pharmaceutical/nutrition manufacturing facility and automation food processing.
• Hands-on experience with SCADA/HMI systems (GE Proficy iFix, Siemens WinCC, Wonderware InTouch, FactoryTalk) and packaging systems (ABB Robotics, B&R automation).
• Proficient in troubleshooting, programming, and modifying PLCs (Siemens Step 7, TIA Portal, Rockwell RS Logix, B&R automation).
• Familiar with control components and fieldbus systems (Profibus DP/PA, DeviceNet, IO Link).
• Experience with field instruments (temp & pressure transmitters, control valves) and basic calibration/troubleshooting.
• Ability to read maintenance procedures, equipment manuals, P&ID diagrams, and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Provide support on automation systems, fault finding, diagnosis and recovery from breakdowns.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance as scheduled by maintenance planner.
• Update and create job aids as needed.
• Carry out calibration and troubleshooting of field instruments.
• Backup and restore machine programs.

• Responsible to provide support on the Automation System. To attend and carry out fault finding, diagnosis and recovery of systems from breakdowns.
• To perform routine preventive maintenance as per scheduled by maintenance planner.
• Responsible to update and create Job Aids as and when is needed.
• Responsible to carry instrument calibration and troubleshooting.
• Responsible to perform backup and restore machine program.
• To execute work order and record job performed via Maximo System

Requirements:

• ITC/ Nitec / Higher Nitec / Diploma from Control/ Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics / Instrumentation Engineering or related disciplines
• 3 years of experience working in pharmaceutical/nutritional manufacturing facility and automation food processing
• Hands-on experience with SCADA/HMI systems (GE Proficy iFix, Siemens WinCC, Wonderware InTouch, FactoryTalk) and packaging systems (ABB Robotics, B&R automation).

• Skilled in reading and interpreting maintenance procedures, equipment manuals, P&ID diagrams, and electrical schematics to perform servicing, troubleshooting, and hardware replacements
• Able to perform 12 hours shift work
