Job summary

ChemLex in Singapore is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to drive the R&D of in-house automated equipment, overseeing mechanical appearance design, structure, and mechanism design, with responsibility for 3D modelling and simulation.

You will design tooling and fixtures, select motors and pneumatic components, develop motion schematics, and produce technical docs and BOMs while coordinating with supply chain and supporting commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics, with ≥3 years design experience.
• Proficient in 2D and 3D design tools.
• Familiar with machining, assembly, and strength calculations; capable of complex mechanical design tasks.
• Experience in robotic integration and automation preferred; biomedical/chemical/medical device design a plus.
• Good verbal and written English; strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
• Willingness to travel internationally for training.

Responsibilities

• Lead the R&D of in-house automated equipment, including mechanical appearance design, structural design, and mechanism design.
• Perform 3D modelling, simulation, and related design work.
• Design tooling and fixtures.
• Develop motion schematics by selecting motors, pneumatic components, and standard parts.
• Prepare technical documentation, drawings, standards, and BOMs.
• Coordinate with the supply chain and follow up on manufacturing of custom parts.
• Provide technical support during system commissioning and debugging.
