Job summary

VDL Enabling Technologies Group (Singapore) is seeking an Automation Engineer specializing in robotics and AI to design, develop, and deploy automated assembly and inspection solutions. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, implement AI-driven process optimization, and ensure robust operation of automation systems across manufacturing environments.

The role emphasizes hands-on design, programming in Python, and using PLCs with EtherCAT/Modbus protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation Engineering, Robotics, AI, Mechatronics, Mechanical or related field.
• Experience in automation engineering with a focus on AI and robotics preferred.
• Familiarity with PLC programming and industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, Modbus, IoT etc).
• Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.

Responsibilities

Purpose: To design, develop, and implement automation solutions for system integration and machine assembly processes to enhance productivity, minimize human errors, and ensure high-quality outputs. The role will focus on leveraging AI and robotics to achieve automated assembly and inspection solutions.

Key Area of Responsibilities:

• Design and implement robotic systems for automated assembly processes.

• Liaise with stakeholders and develop AI-driven solutions for process optimization and defect detection.

• Identify Automation Opportunities in Manufacturing Processes.

• Ensure seamless communication between automation systems and other manufacturing tools.

• Troubleshoot and Maintain Automation Systems.

• Perform Preventive Maintenance to Ensure System Reliability.

• Train technicians and operators on the use of automated systems.

• Develop and Maintain Technical Documentation.

• Research and Implement Robotics and AI with MES for Real-Time Monitoring.
