Job summary

Youth for Autism (YFA) Internship Programme offers passionate individuals the chance to gain hands-on experience supporting students and clients with autism in special education or inclusive workplace settings.

Interns will be deployed to Teaching Track, Early Intervention Programme (EIP), or Employability and Employment Centre (E2C) based on interest and organizational needs. Training is provided, with emphasis on learning outcomes and holistic development.

Qualifications

• Passion for working with children or youths with special needs.
• Patient, responsible, and willing to learn.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to commit to full duration of the internship.
• No prior experience required – training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers or job coaches in delivering daily learning and engagement activities for students or clients with autism.
• Assist in managing routines and ensuring a structured, safe, and supportive environment, whether in the classroom or workplace.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students or clients, based on their individual needs.
• Help with the preparation of teaching, training, or vocational materials and resources.
• Participate in student care activities, such as mealtimes, transitions, and outdoor learning.
• Collaborate with teachers and other team members to support the holistic development of students.
• Support school-wide or centre-wide events and initiatives (e.g., learning journeys, career fairs, or social activities).
