Brookfield Singapore Pte. Ltd. is seeking a Singapore-qualified lawyer to join the BPW Legal and Regulatory Team in our Singapore office.

The Associate will handle distribution and fund-related agreements, supporting private wealth channels and platforms globally while aligning with regulatory requirements. The role involves advising on regulation, governance, and marketing of Brookfield funds within wealth management channels, across closed-end and open-end funds, evergreen and feeder funds,

Qualifications

• Qualified to practice law in Singapore.
• 3+ years of experience in private funds and distribution matters.
• In-house experience preferred but candidates from private practice considered.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate distribution, selling and other product distribution agreements with wealth management intermediaries and platforms.
• Engage with internal/external legal counsel during negotiations with intermediaries.
• Coordinate with technology platform partners to develop feeder fund structures for distribution.
• Advise on cross-border sale of US and EU funds and offshore feeder funds into APAC jurisdictions.
• Assist in responding to due diligence queries from prospective investors about Brookfield fund structures.

Role

The Firm is seeking to add a resource to the Brookfield Private Wealth (BPW) Legal and Regulatory Team in its Singapore office. Reporting to the Managing Director for Legal for BPW ex North America (who is based in London).

The Associate will be part of the team responsible for negotiating distribution agreements, and other product distribution-related agreements with the wealth management intermediary channels and platforms in relation to Brookfield private wealth and registered funds as well as providing legal support to the private wealth teams.

The role will support the team in a range of matters, including advising on the regulation, establishment, management, governance and marketing of Brookfield's investment funds within the wealth management channels. The investment funds in scope include closed end private funds, open end private funds, evergreen funds and global feeder funds into the above funds. The candidate will collaborate with legal and regulatory personnel and teams as needed and engage with external counsel to ensure alignment of legal and regulatory approaches.

Key Responsibilities

• Negotiate distribution agreements, selling agreements and other product distribution-related agreements with the wealth management intermediary channels and platforms in relation to Brookfield private wealth, fund and evergreen products.
• Engage with Brookfield's internal and external legal counsel through negotiation of agreements with wealth management intermediaries.
• Engage with personnel from technology platform partners that Brookfield contracts with to develop feeder fund structures for onshore and offshore distribution of products through wealth management intermediaries.
• Advise the business on cross border sale of US and EU funds together with any offshore feeder funds into jurisdictions across APAC.
• Assist in responding to due diligence queries from prospective investors specific to the legal structure of Brookfield funds.

Candidate Profile

• Qualified to practice law in Singapore and in good standing with the relevant professional body.
• 3+ years of experience, previous in-house experience preferred but will consider candidates from private practice with good experience with a focus on private funds and/or semi-liquid offerings and distribution-related matters.
• Working knowledge of, and experience working with and applying, the regulatory requirements and restrictions that apply to the marketing and distribution of private funds and semi-liquid offerings on a global basis.
• Experience negotiating placement agent agreements, dealer agreements, platform/services agreements.
• Strong client orientation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to give commercial advice and guidance to internal clients.
• Desire to work in a team‑based entrepreneurial environment with an ability to collaborate and build relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with attention to detail and thoroughness
• Solid written and verbal communication.
