Job summary

The Accountant-General's Department in Singapore invites applications to join our team to help develop and implement AI strategy and transformation initiatives for the public sector finance workforce and function. What the role is:

You will join the Government Finance Functional Office team and support the development and implementation of AI strategy and transformation initiatives for the public sector finance workforce and function. Working with colleagues, stakeholders and external partners, you will research emerging trends, critically analyse issues, frame complex problems and help conceptualise practical initiatives for the Finance community. This role is suitable for those who are curious about strategy, AI and digital transformation in the finance domain. Prior coding experience is not required; what matters is an interest in learning and applying AI to improve finance work.

What you will be working on:

• I. AI Strategy and Execution
  • Support strategic research and analysis for the Public Sector Finance AI Strategy and roadmap, including identifying emerging trends, synthesising insights and assessing their implications.
  • Help define and structure ambiguous business problems, identify root causes and opportunities, and frame potential AI use cases for further assessment.
  • Conceptualise solution approaches, policy options, strategic frameworks and implementation plans, translating ideas into clear and actionable proposals.
• II. Capability Development and Change Management
  • Support the planning and delivery of AI capability programmes for the Finance community, including training pathways, communities of practice and workshops.
  • Help develop learning resources, explore AI tools and share practical applications with finance officers.
• III. Stakeholder Engagement and Community Building
  • Support the organisation and facilitation of engagement sessions, hackathons and recognition programmes to build community and surface ideas across agencies.
  • Engage finance officers and other stakeholders to understand their needs, test assumptions and refine the framing and design of initiatives.
• IV. Performance Measurement and Reporting
  • Analyse qualitative and quantitative information on AI initiatives, identify key findings and trade-offs, and develop clear insights to support decision‑making and reporting.

What we are looking for:

• Functional/Technical Competencies:
  • Degree or relevant qualification in finance, accounting, economics, public policy, business, computer science, data analytics, AI or a related discipline
  • Interest in strategy, public sector finance, AI and digital transformation
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to examine issues from different perspectives, identify underlying problems and draw well-reasoned conclusions
  • Ability to structure ambiguous problems, develop clear problem statements and conceptualise practical solutions, frameworks or approaches
  • Ability to synthesise information from multiple sources and communicate key insights, options and recommendations clearly
  • Basic awareness of AI concepts and tools, or a willingness to learn how they can be applied to finance and business processes
  • Experience from internships, school projects or co-curricular activities involving research, data, technology, finance or project work would be an advantage
  • Fresh graduates are welcomed
