Job summary

A maritime company based in Singapore is seeking an Assistant Technical Superintendent (Wet) to manage fleet software performance and support technical operations. The ideal candidate will hold a marine engineering degree and possess 1-2 years of experience in the marine industry. Responsibilities include overseeing compliance with regulations and assisting in repairs and surveys. Strong performance orientation and ability to travel on short notice are essential for this role.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Implement and track the performance of the fleet's software vessels.
  • Assist in managing surveys and maintaining compliance with Class/Flag State regulations.
  • Create procedures for monitoring subcontractors with the technical manager.
  • Assist with repair specs preparation and evaluation.
  • Keep updated on cost and timelines for repairs.
  • Attend Technical Department meetings and take minutes.
  • Assist with fleet personnel and administrative tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In charge of efficiently implementing and tracking the performance of the fleet's software vessels; collaborates with the service provider to provide reports; and works in tandem with technical superintendents to analyse data and apply remedial measures.
  • Help the Technical Supervisor in overseeing and arranging the necessary surveys and keeping an eye on the Class and Flag State requirements. ensuring that the allocated vessels' certificates are kept up to date in compliance with the applicable Class / Flag State regulations.
  • Staying up to date with the Class and Statutory rules and regulations
  • Create effective procedures for monitoring and choosing subcontractors in collaboration with the technical manager.
  • Help Tech Supt get ready for the dry-docking repair specs.
  • Help the Technical Supervisor in assessing repair quotes, choosing repair companies and the repair location based on the "best quality of works" / "cost" relationship, while keeping the vessel's schedule and Charter Party commitments in mind.
  • Cost and timeline updates for repairs.
  • As needed, complete any further technical responsibilities.
  • Attend meetings of the Technical Department, take minutes, and distribute as needed.
  • When needed, assist with fleet personnel and other administrative tasks.
  • Carry out ad hoc tasks as given.

Requirements:

  • At least a marine engineering degree or diploma
  • A minimum of one to two years' experience in the marine industry, ideally managing ship operations or repairs.

  • Able to travel on short notice as necessary
