Job summary

Tap Growth ai is seeking a Technical Superintendent with bulk carrier experience to oversee seaworthiness and maintenance for assigned vessels in Singapore. You will organise dry docking, repairs, and schedules to minimise downtime while monitoring performance, fuel use, and costs.

The role requires a Diploma or Bachelor's in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture with at least 5 years in bulk carrier operations or technical supervision, plus knowledge of AMOS or ShipManager and

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of bulk carrier experience, either at sea or in a technical superintendent capacity.
  • Sound working knowledge of maintenance systems such as AMOS or ShipManager, along with familiarity with ISM, ISPS, and MARPOL requirements.
  • Strong people management, negotiation, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and resourcefully, with the capacity to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure technical condition and seaworthiness of assigned bulk carrier vessels per class and statutory requirements
  • Organise dry docking, repairs and maintenance schedules to minimise downtime
  • Track vessel performance and fuel use via onboard systems and PM software
  • Approve budgets, expenditures and purchase requisitions for vessels under management
  • Liaise with classification societies and port state authorities to keep certification valid
  • Conduct scheduled ship visits and inspections focusing on cargo holds, hatch covers, gear systems
  • Lead root-cause investigations into incidents and machinery failures
  • Build relationships with yards, suppliers, and service providers for quality and value
  • Enhance the Safety Management System per ISM Code addressing bulk carrier risks
  • Guide crew and superintendents on equipment repairs for cargo gear and hold systems

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Hold responsibility for the technical condition and seaworthiness of assigned bulk carrier vessels, in line with class society and statutory requirements
  • Organise dry docking, repair works, and maintenance schedules to reduce vessel downtime
  • Track vessel performance and fuel consumption through onboard systems and AMOS or equivalent planned maintenance software
  • Approve technical budgets, expenditures, and purchase requisitions for vessels under management
  • Liaise closely with classification societies, flag state authorities, and port state control to keep vessel certification valid
  • Conduct scheduled ship visits and inspections, with particular attention to cargo hold condition, hatch cover integrity, and cargo gear systems
  • Direct root cause investigations into technical incidents and machinery failures, and put corrective measures in place
  • Build and sustain relationships with shipyards, spare parts suppliers, and technical service providers to secure quality and value for money
  • Enhance the Safety Management System in line with the ISM Code, with focus on bulk carrier specific risks such as cargo shift, hold structural integrity, and loading and discharging operations
  • Guide ship's crew and fellow superintendents on equipment troubleshooting and repair procedures for cargo gear, hatch covers, and hold systems
Requirements
