Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities is seeking an Assistant Teacher for Early Intervention for Children (EIC) Services. You will support Lead Teachers, Therapists, Social Workers and Families to deliver an inclusive program for children aged 0–6.

Responsibilities include co-teaching, planning activities, preparing resources, managing behaviour, and maintaining a safe classroom while collaborating with families to foster home–school partnerships.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in a related field (Psychology, Early Childhood, Social Work, Special Needs).
  • Experience teaching children aged 0–6 in EC or EI settings.

  • Assist Lead Teachers to co-teach an effective education programme for the class to meet every child’s IEP.
  • Brainstorm and plan activities to support students’ learning
  • Prepare teaching resources
  • Ensure students are well supervised during contact time in the centre/classroom.
  • Manage students’ behavior
  • Carry out recommended therapeutic interventions.
  • Receive and discharge the students before and after class
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and conducive learning environment e.g. tidying up the classroom after class
  • Supervise the Teacher Aides under their charge
  • Attend workshops and in-service training
  • Maintain good communication with parents and make each parent feel at ease with/ at the programme

Job description

The Early Intervention for Children (EIC) Services helps equip children with motor, communication, social, self-help and cognitive skills. THK EIC involves structuring classes around small groups encompassing early childhood special education, social work and therapy support services to stimulate their adaptive functioning and school readiness skills.

The main responsibility of the Assistant Teachers are to support teachers in achieving the Centre and programme goals in close partnership with the Therapists, Social Workers, Psychology Associates, Administrative Staff and Families of the children.

Reports to the Principal Lead Teacher and/ or Senior Teacher.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Qualification

  • Have relevant work experience in teaching children between age 0 - 6 in Early Childhood or Early Intervention settings
