Job summary

SMRT Corporation in Singapore seeks a Technical Officer to perform PM, CM and IM in line with quality and safety standards to achieve KPI.

You will operate measuring and testing equipment, follow procedures, and take on safety duties, including night shifts when required, and coordinate with external parties. The role requires 8+ years' railway experience and a diploma in electrical or electronics engineering.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years' experience as Technical Officer or equivalent in related field; railway experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate measuring, test equipment, instruments and tools safely and efficiently.
• Perform tasks per Quality Procedures, Work Specifications, Work Instructions and change instructions.
• Maintain safety at all times in accordance with Safety Procedures.
• Ensure safety of self and peers at the workplace.
• Carry out SPIC, PIC and PM duties and responsibilities.
• Complete necessary reports for tasks.
• Plan scheduled PM work and perform timely CM.
• Ensure maintenance work orders are completed promptly.
• Monitor equipment performance and follow up as needed.
• Ensure authorized access to Systems Equipment Rooms.
• Assist in managing maintenance spares with EMM.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the workplace.
• Respond to emergency recall after duty hours or overtime.
• Coordinate work with LTA, MHA and contractors.
• Provide guidance and on‑the‑job training to new staff.
• Conduct or assist with systems training of new staff.
• Cover duties of another Assistant Engineer when needed.
• Carry out any duty as assigned by supervisors.

To perform Preventive Maintenance (PM), Corrective Management (CM) and Improvement Maintenance (IM) in accordance with quality and safety standards, to achieve Key Performance Index (KPI).

Responsibilities

• To operate measuring, test equipment, instruments and tools safely and efficiently.
• To perform tasks in compliance with relevant procedures and instructions contained in Quality Procedures, Work Specifications, Work Instructions and any relevant change instructions disseminated.
• To comply with and exercise safety at all times in accordance with all Safety Procedures.
• To be responsible for the safety of self, peers at workplace; off and on trackside throughout working period.
• To carry-out the role of SPIC, PIC and PM duties and responsibilities.
• To complete the necessary reports for the task at hand.
• To plan scheduled PM work and perform timely CM.
• To ensure maintenance work orders are completed promptly.
• To carry out day-to-day monitoring of equipment performance and follow up where appropriate.
• To ensure authorized access to Systems Equipment Rooms.

Qualifications & Work Experience

• Diploma in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 8 years' experience as Technical Officer or equivalent in related field, previous Railway System or related qualifications and/or working experience would be advantageous.

Skills

• Candidate with previous railway communication experience, Signalling or PSD, or working experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of electronics, mechanical, computer networking, and radio transmission equipment will have an added advantage.
• Candidate with good troubleshooting and communication skills would be advantageous.
• Candidate must be able to work in a team or independently.
• Candidate with strong safety awareness is preferred.
• Candidate must be committed to perform rotating shift duties inclusive of night shift during non-passenger service hours.
• Candidate with a valid Class 3 driving license would be advantageous.
