Job summary

The MPA Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore invites a qualified professional to join the Hydrographic Division to deliver hydrographic, cartographic and aids to navigation products and services ensuring safe navigation in Singapore waters.

You will conduct UNCLOS research, analyse GIS data, provide technical assessments, manage client relations, oversee projects and deliver training. This is a 2-year contract appointment with opportunities to contribute to national maritime safety.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Engineering, Nautical Studies or Information Technology.
• Candidates with at least 2 years of experience in land surveying, cartography or GIS/CAD will have an advantage.

What the role is

Reporting to MPA's Hydrographic Division, you will be part of our team of maritime professionals whose responsibilities are to ensure safe navigation and protecting Singapore’s interests in Singapore waters by providing hydrographic, cartographic and aids to navigation products and services.

What you will be working on

Your duties will include but not limited the following:

• Conduct research on interpretation and application of United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea
• Analyse information through Geographical Information Systems (GIS) applications and prepare assessment reports
• Provision of technical assessment on strategic hydrographic matters
• Manage internal and external clients to provide hydrographic information and assessments to meet client’s requirements
• Manage projects and prepare reports for Hydrographic Division
• Development and delivery of training on subject matter

What we are looking for

You should possess qualification in relevant disciplines such as Engineering, Nautical Studies or Information Technology. Candidates with at least 2 years of prior working experience in land surveying, cartography or geographical information/computer-aided design systems will have an advantage. You must be independent, resourceful, meticulous with an eye for detail and a good team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.

This position will be a 2-year contract appointment in the first instance.
