IHO-Singapore Lab is seeking an Assistant/Manager to support the General Manager in formulating and implementing strategies, coordinating with the Governing Board, and aligning tasks with the approved work plan.

You will engage international hydrographic administrations and coordinate technical reviews, ensuring collaboration with internal teams and external experts to advance Lab projects and new proposals, while also assisting day-to-day operations.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience in project management and executive support.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in maritime and/or R&D industries is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills with international counterparts.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines, both independently and in a team.
  • Proactive, well-organised, detail-oriented and highly resourceful.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in formulating and implementing strategies for IHO-Singapore Lab.
  • Coordinate with Governing Board and external stakeholders; draft the work plan.

[What the role is]

As Assistant / Manager of the IHO-Singapore Lab, you will assist the General Manager in the following areas:

  1. To assist and support all executive works in formulating and implementing strategies for IHO-Singapore Lab;

    • Coordinate and work with Governing Board, both internal and external stakeholders and assist the General Manager in drafting the proposed work plan for the laboratory.
    • Ensure work tasks are aligned with the approved work plan and executed accordingly to achieve the desired outcomes.
    • Perform and present periodic reviews and reports on the status of the work plan during stakeholders' meetings and Governing Board meetings.
  2. To engage other international hydrographic administrations in identifying and collaborating on key projects

    • Engage other Hydrographic Offices, Regional ENC Coordinating Centres (RENCs) and industry stakeholders to be in an environment to consolidate and collaborate on identified technical issues.
    • Coordinate and manage technical review sessions by engaging both internal and external stakeholders and technical experts for IHO-Singapore Lab's projects and new proposals.
    • Assist and facilitate the conduct of innovative or investigative projects in the laboratory and/or test bedding in the field proposed by IHO Member State(s), IHO organisations, or other stakeholders.
    • Share results of efforts freely to further enhance global navigational safety.
  3. To facilitate and support the IHO-Singapore Lab's operations

    • Provide support for the day-to-day operations of the IHO-Singapore Lab.

[What we are looking for]
  • - At least 3 years of relevant working experience in the project management and providing executive support to management is required.
  • - Knowledge and/or experience in maritime industry and/or Research & Development industry would be an added advantage.
  • - Proficient in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • - Possess strong interpersonal skills, ability to work and engage international maritime counterparts, industry partners and associations, etc.
  • - Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task and work independently to meet deadlines, as well as in a team.
  • - Proactive, take initiative and well-organised, with an attention to detail and highly resourceful.
  • - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • - Successful candidates will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance and may be considered for an extension or placement on a permanent appointment.
