Job summary

Shangri-La Singapore is seeking an Assistant Chief Steward Manager (Stewarding) to lead daily stewarding operations, ensure top sanitation standards and drive cost-efficient practices. You will supervise a diverse team, coordinate with Culinary, F&B and Banquet, and uphold safety regulations in a luxury hotel setting.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive stewarding experience, and flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, in a premium hospitality environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant stewarding experience in a hotel environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of stewarding operations, sanitation standards and food safety practices.
  • Familiarity with workplace safety regulations and hygiene compliance requirements.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate and develop a diverse team.
  • Strong organizational, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with multiple departments.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chief Steward in overseeing the daily operations of the Stewarding Department to ensure efficient and smooth operations.
  • Lead, supervise and motivate the stewarding team to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation across all food and beverage outlets and kitchen areas.
  • Ensure all operating equipment, kitchen utensils, chinaware, glassware and silverware are cleaned, stored and maintained according to hotel standards.
  • Monitor staffing levels and work schedules to ensure adequate manpower coverage for operational requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections of kitchens, food preparation areas, stores and back-of-house facilities to ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, health and workplace safety regulations and company policies.
  • Assist in controlling stewarding inventories and operating equipment to minimise losses and ensure cost efficiency.
  • Coordinate with Culinary, Food & Beverage and Banquet teams to support operational and event requirements.
  • Assist in training, coaching and developing stewarding colleagues to enhance productivity, performance and service standards.
  • Support the Chief Steward in implementing departmental initiatives, managing projects and achieving operational goals.
