Job summary

SINGAPORE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY seeks a research staff member to lead and support concrete materials research. You will design experiments for ultra-low carbon systems, perform advanced characterisation, and evaluate durability and mechanical performance within a collaborative university-industry environment.

The role emphasizes independent initiative, rigorous reporting, and alignment with safety protocols while advancing practical engineering solutions for structural materials.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Materials Science (cementitious materials) or Civil Engineering; PhD advantageous.
• Hands-on experience in cementitious materials and concrete characterisation (LC³, carbonated steel slag-based systems, SFRC).
• Strong understanding of cement chemistry, hydration, microstructure development, and fiber-matrix interaction.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support execution of research projects with PI/Co-PI and team, ensuring milestones and reporting.
• Design and conduct experimental programs for ultra-low carbon concrete systems (LC3, steel slag-based, SFRC).
• Perform advanced materials characterisation (XRF, XRD, SEM-EDX, TGA, calorimetry, FTIR).
• Analyse hydration, strength development, and microstructure relating to macroscopic performance.
• Conduct mechanical and durability testing of concrete; assess long-term performance.
• Support pilot-scale production, field validation, and dissemination of findings.
