EPM Scientific is seeking an Application Engineer in Singapore to support Southeast Asia and Taiwan. The role blends molecular biology, automation solutions, and technical service across regional distributors and customers, driving adoption of automation platforms.
The candidate should have a strong molecular biology background with hands-on automation experience, and be prepared to support software and hardware‑related activities in a customer‑facing capacity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, Genomics, or a related discipline.
- Master's degree or PhD is highly preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a customer‑facing scientific role.
- Experience as a Field Application Scientist, Application Specialist, Automation Specialist, Technical Support Scientist, Product Specialist, Application Engineer.
- Strong background in molecular biology, genomics, or diagnostics.
- Hands‑on experience with PCR, qPCR, NGS workflows, nucleic acid extraction, or assay development.
- Familiarity with laboratory automation and robotic liquid handling platforms.
Responsibilities
- Provide pre‑sales and post‑sales application support for laboratory automation platforms.
- Act as the technical expert for molecular biology, genomics, and automated workflow applications.
- Troubleshoot customer application issues and provide workflow optimization recommendations.
- Design and demonstrate automated solutions for research, diagnostics, and genomics laboratories.
- Support proof‑of‑concept studies, method development, and workflow validation activities.
- Deliver product demonstrations, seminars, workshops, and customer training programs.
- Configure laboratory automation systems to meet customer workflow requirements.
- Support automated liquid handling workflows for PCR, qPCR, NGS, and related tasks.
- Assist customers and distributors with protocol setup and software configuration.
- Collaborate with customers to improve productivity and laboratory efficiency.
- Develop a strong understanding of automation software, scripting, and workflow programming concepts.
- Train and certify distributor application and technical teams; support tender submissions and marketing activities.

We are seeking a highly motivated Application Engineer to support our growing laboratory automation business across Southeast Asia and Taiwan.
This is a unique hybrid role combining scientific applications, automation solutions, and technical service support. The successful candidate will serve as the regional technical expert for automated liquid handling and robotic laboratory platforms, partnering with distributors, customers, and internal teams to drive successful implementation and adoption of automation solutions.
The ideal candidate combines a strong molecular biology background with hands‑on laboratory automation experience, a passion for solving customer challenges, and a willingness to support both software and hardware‑related activities.
- Provide pre‑sales and post‑sales application support for laboratory automation platforms.
- Act as the technical expert for molecular biology, genomics, and automated workflow applications.

- Monitor service quality across distributor networks and elevate issues as required.
- Open and manage service notifications, product quality issues, and customer escalations.
- Act as the technical liaison between distributors, customers, and internal teams.
- Train and certify distributor application and technical teams.
- Support tender submissions, quotations, and technical documentation.
- Participate in exhibitions, conferences, scientific meetings, and marketing activities.
- Partner with sales teams to identify opportunities and support business growth across the region.
