Job summary

Barrington James is seeking a senior regional security and technology leader to drive the cybersecurity strategy for China and Asia-Pacific. You will advise regional leadership, coordinate with global teams, and act as the main escalation point during Asia-Pacific hours.

The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, translating regulatory and privacy requirements into practical security controls across regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, CS, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
• 10+ years in cybersecurity with regional leadership.
• 5+ years leading security, risk, compliance and incident response across teams.
• Experience in China/APAC regulated operations.
• Strong influencing skills in a matrix global environment; Mandarin a plus.
• Certifications: CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CISA.

Responsibilities

• Act as the senior regional representative for the global security function.
• Develop and maintain a regional cybersecurity strategy and roadmap.
• Turn regulatory obligations into security requirements and controls.
• Provide security guidance on technology, cloud, network, data, and vendors.
• Lead regional risk assessments, control reviews, and remediation.
• Coordinate incident readiness and response per global process.
• Support regional audits with evidence and remediation tracking.
• Assess regional vendors and oversee MSPs.
• Support security readiness for new regional operations and transitions.
• Build regional security metrics and executive reporting.
• Document local requirements while minimizing divergence from global standards.
