Job summary

Energy Market Authority (EMA) in Singapore seeks a proactive professional to join the Projects & Partnerships branch within the Energy Connections Office. You will negotiate proposals with energy providers, evaluate they meet security and sustainability requirements, and help deliver cross-border electricity trading initiatives.

This role requires strong stakeholder engagement, travel overseas, and a passion for public service as part of Singapore’s energy transition journey.

Qualifications

• Keen interest in energy transition issues and passion for public service.
• Comfortable with navigating ambiguity, challenging the status quo, and proposing new solutions.
• Strong interpersonal skills to engage and collaborate with stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal communication, analytical and critical thinking skills, and willingness to deep-dive into subject areas.
• Prior experience in electricity trading, industry engagement and project management preferred.

Job description

What the role is:

The Energy Connections Office (ECO) is tasked to facilitate around 6GW of low-carbon electricity imports into Singapore by 2035, or about one-third of our energy demand then. You will join a dynamic and multi-disciplinary team tasked to facilitate imports into Singapore and regional grid interconnections. Specifically, you will join the Projects & Partnerships (PP) branch in ECO.

What you will be working on:

1. Negotiating with interested companies on their proposals, and evaluating such proposals to meet our requirements for energy security, competitiveness and sustainability.
2. Facilitating the development and ensuring the timely delivery of promising electricity imports projects.
3. Engaging overseas government bodies to secure G2G support for cross-border electricity trading.
