Job summary

SSMC (Systems on Silicon Manufacturing Company Pte. Ltd.) is seeking an Engineer to join the Automation & Systems (AMHS & Support) Department. You will be part of a diverse team delivering reliable AMHS and continuous improvement in semiconductor fabrication environments.

The role involves maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades of AMHS systems, coordinating with vendors, and supporting production with documentation and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial or computer engineering.
• 2–5 years of AMHS experience in manufacturing or automation environments.
• Experience with OEM AMHS systems such as Muratec, Daifuku or SSI Schaefer is a plus.
• Familiarity with MCS, PLCs and industrial control systems.
• Knowledge of SECS/GEM automation protocols.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work at height and in standard or swing shifts.
• Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and cleanroom AMHS systems.

Responsibilities

• To ensure system reliability, supports production operations, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize material flow and reduce downtime.
• Monitor and maintain AMHS performance to ensure maximum uptime.
• Diagnosing and troubleshoot system failures in hardware and software components.
• Provide technical support to operations teams during AMHS issues or failures.
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules.
• Coordinate system upgrades and migrations with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Manage spare parts inventory and critical component replacements.
• Analyze system data to identify trends, bottlenecks, or inefficiencies.
• Support layout changes and material flow improvements in collaboration with manufacturing and planning teams.
• Lead or support AMHS-related projects including new equipment installation, software updates, and capacity expansion.
• Interface with vendors for system procurement, commissioning, and support agreements.
• Ensure documentation of all changes and maintain compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Work with IT, Equipment Engineering, and Facilities to ensure system integration and stability.
• Train technicians and operators on system usage and troubleshooting procedures.
• Follow all safety protocols including work at height

More about you:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience with AMHS in a manufacturing or automation environment (e.g., semiconductor fab, warehouse automation).
• Experience with OEM systems such as Muratec, Daifuku, or SSI Schaefer isa plus.
• Familiarity with MCS, PLCs, and industrial control systems.
• Knowledge automation protocols (e.g., SECS/GEM).
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work at height using ladders mobile platforms and safety harness
• Ability to work independently and in a team in Standard or swing shift
• Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes (for semiconductor roles).
• Experience with cleanroom AMHS systems (e.g., OHT, stockers, buffer systems).
• Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies
