Job summary

NTU is seeking a Research Engineer I to join the Digital ATCO Assistant project, focusing on developing intelligent AI-enabled applications for air traffic management by integrating LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, AI agents, operational data, and user-facing components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/AI/SE/IS or related field.
• At least 1 year of software engineering, systems integration, AI application development, or enterprise technology delivery.
• Strong Python, backend, APIs, databases, and system integration skills.
• Experience with LLM applications, RAG, AI agents, or orchestration workflows.
• Ability to develop reliable end-to-end prototypes and work in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate AI-enabled applications for the Digital ATCO Assistant project.
• Build end-to-end systems combining LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, AI agents, tool calling, workflow orchestration, and operational data sources.
• Integrate AI components with enterprise systems via APIs, databases, authentication mechanisms, and message-based services.
• Develop backend services, user interfaces, and system connectors for prototypes and pilot deployments.
• Implement evaluation, logging, monitoring, traceability, and feedback mechanisms for AI-assisted workflows.
• Work with domain experts and controllers to convert operational use cases into system requirements and test scenarios.
• Support system testing, demonstrations, technical documentation, and deployment activities.
• Contribute to technical reports, project proposals, publications, and collaboration with academic, industry, and regulatory partners.
