Job summary

ScienTec Consulting Pte. Ltd. is seeking an experienced backend engineer in Singapore to design, build, and maintain scalable Python-based services and RESTful APIs.

You will own feature development end-to-end, integrate with internal and external systems, and advance AI-enabled backend capabilities for document ingestion and knowledge processing. The role requires 4+ years of production backend experience, proficiency in FastAPI or Flask, and strong database skills (Redis, MongoDB, PostgreSQL).

Qualifications

• A minimum of 4 years of backend software engineering experience in production.
• Strong Python backend development with FastAPI or Flask.
• Familiarity with Azure cloud services and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with both relational and non-relational databases.
• Hands-on with CI/CD and version control (GitHub/GitLab).
• Excellent communication across product, engineering and UX teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs in Python.
• Own backend feature development end-to-end from design to production support.
• Integrate with internal platforms, external systems, and third-party services.
• Develop AI-powered backend capabilities for document ingestion and retrieval.
• Build data processing pipelines and ensure reliable information retrieval.
• Work with Redis, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL for performance and scalability.
• Debug, resolve production issues, and improve observability and reliability.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and UX teams; participate in code reviews.
