Job summary

GlobalFoundries Singapore is seeking curious, motivated Process & Equipment Engineering interns to join our wafer fabrication operations. You will work alongside an assigned engineer to monitor critical steps, catch abnormalities early, and drive improvements that protect wafer quality and yield.

The internship offers one-on-one mentorship, hands-on exposure to semiconductor manufacturing, and development opportunities aimed at building a foundation for a career in the industry.

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a Diploma in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or Materials Science.
• Must be in good academic standing.
• Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.
• Prior related internship or co-op experience.

Responsibilities

• Support equipment preventive maintenance — execute scheduled maintenance and troubleshooting on time in support of production.
• Assist with tool installation, modification and hardware repair to improve capacity, throughput and overall tool efficiency.
• Reduce variability in process recovery procedures and standardize processes across equipment.
• Review, analyze and respond to inline process control charts to meet quality, cost and productivity goals.
• Improve early problem detection, including enhancements to limits of detection, and strengthen process performance measurement techniques.
• Execute actions to optimize production moves, qualify new processes, and reduce the cost of chemicals and/or qualification wafers.

Summary of Role

GlobalFoundries Singapore is seeking curious, motivated Process & Equipment Engineering interns to join our wafer fabrication operations. Every chip starts as a bare silicon substrate and moves through hundreds of precisely controlled steps — as an intern, you will work alongside an assigned engineer to help monitor those critical steps, catch abnormalities early, and drive improvements that protect wafer quality and yield.

Essential Responsibilities & Project may include:

• Support equipment preventive maintenance — execute scheduled maintenance and troubleshooting on time in support of production, protecting uptime, quality and cost
• Assist with tool installation, modification and hardware repair to improve capacity, throughput and overall tool efficiency
• Reduce variability in process recovery procedures and standardize processes across equipment
• Review, analyze and respond to inline process control charts to meet quality, cost and productivity goals
• Improve early problem detection, including enhancements to limits of detection (LOD), and strengthen process performance measurement techniques
• Execute actions to optimize production moves, qualify new processes, and reduce the cost of chemicals and/or qualification wafers

Required Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a Diploma in Chemical engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering/Mechatronics Engineering, Materials Science or related field during the time of internship.
• Must be in good academic standing.
• Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior related internship or co‑op experience
• Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.
• Project management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.
• Strong interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support effective decision‑making.
• An inquisitive mindset and a positive, proactive learning attitude
