Job summary

UNITED OVERSEAS INSURANCE LIMITED is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to contribute to reserve estimation, financial reporting, budgeting, and capital modelling. You will support pricing, data analytics, and reinsurance strategies within the underwriting framework.

You will work closely with underwriting, finance, and risk teams to develop models, deliver insights, and ensure regulatory compliance. Fluency in English and strong analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial, mathematics, statistics, or related field.
• 2–3 years’ experience in reserving, regulatory and financial reporting (e.g. MAS reporting & IFRS 17), budgeting and forecast, capital modelling and management, pricing, and portfolio management for general insurance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerBI, and/or any statistical software such as SAS.
• Proficiency in programming languages, such as SQL, VBA, Python an advantage.
• Fluency in English.
• Strong analytical mindset, problem solving, good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Meticulous, organised, and able to multi-task efficiently and produce innovative solutions.
• Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform actuarial valuations to ensure reserves are adequate and regulatory requirements are met.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance models to support KPIs like budgeting, forecasting, and profitability tracking.
• Understand underwriting strategy, portfolio structure, product offerings, and reinsurance management.
• Perform product pricing activities and develop pricing models and premium calculators.
• Collaborate with underwriting, business, reinsurance, product, claims, and finance to review portfolios and improve profitability.
• Collaborate with IT on data extraction and develop Power BI dashboards for the team.
• Analyze claims data to identify trends, deviations, and potential reserve risks.
• Perform scenario analyses, stress testing, and sensitivity testing for capital and risk management.
• Identify optimal use of reinsurance and retention strategy to balance risk and reward.
• Support technical accounting and commutation calculations.
• Support data analytics and drive data quality improvements.
• Undertake any other duties as assigned.
