SMART ENERGY PTE. LTD. is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to manage full set of accounts for group companies in Singapore.
You will handle journal entries, month-end close, bank reconciliations, inventory reconciliation and inter-company transactions, ensuring compliance with SFRS and GST obligations. Prepare full set of accounts, financial statements and assist in audits, GST preparation. Handle and maintain General Ledger (GL) transactions for all assigned Group companies.
Prepare and post journal entries, adjustments, accruals, prepayments and other accounting entries.
Ensure transactions are recorded under the correct company, account, project, department and accounting period.
Review GL postings and investigate unusual, abnormal or inconsistent balances.
Ensure proper accounting treatment in accordance with Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS) and Group accounting policies.
Coordinate and monitor month-end closing activities for all Group companies.
Ensure AP and AR transactions are completed and posted before closing.
Review GL balances and ensure significant balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled.
Prepare and maintain month-end schedules, including accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, inter-company balances and other balance sheet accounts.
Review P&L accounts for unusual movements, incorrect classifications and significant variances.
Ensure proper revenue, purchase, inventory and expense cut-off.
Follow up with AP, AR and relevant departments on outstanding closing issues.
Prepare monthly closing reports and management account schedules for review by the Accounts Manager.
Assist in preparing monthly Management Accounts, P&L and Balance Sheet.
Prepare explanations and supporting schedules for significant account movements and variances.
Prepare and review bank reconciliations for Group companies on a timely basis.
Reconcile bank statements against accounting records and investigate differences.
Identify and follow up on unreconciled items, unidentified receipts, outstanding payments and other reconciling items.
Coordinate with AP, AR and relevant departments to resolve outstanding items.
Highlight unusual or suspicious transactions to the Accounts Manager.
Perform inventory reconciliation and checking for Group companies with inventory / retail operations.
Reconcile inventory records between the accounting system, POS / operational records and stock reports.
Review negative stock balances, unusual stock movements and inventory variances.
Coordinate with Retail / Operations teams to investigate and resolve stock discrepancies.
Assist with inventory valuation and stock adjustments where applicable.
Ensure proper inventory cut-off for purchases, sales and stock movements at month-end.
Record, review and reconcile inter-company transactions between Group companies.
Ensure inter-company balances are properly matched and reconciled.
Investigate and resolve inter-company differences with the relevant Group accounts teams.
Provide financial information and supporting schedules required for Group reporting.
Prepare supporting schedules and documents for Singapore statutory audit and tax requirements.
Assist with GST, Invoice and other applicable Singapore compliance matters.
Liaise with auditors, tax agents and other professional advisers when instructed by the Accounts Manager.
Follow up on audit and tax queries and provide the required supporting documents.
Ensure accounting records comply with SFRS, applicable Singapore requirements and Group accounting policies.
Provide accounting and technical support to AP and AR Executives.
Assist AP / AR in resolving accounting and reconciliation issues when required.
Provide backup support for AP and AR during staff leave or peak workload.
Coordinate with Operations, Retail and other departments to resolve accounting, inventory and reconciliation discrepancies.
Assist with other accounting activities as instructed by the Accounts Manager.
Maintain confidentiality of financial and Group information.
Ensure accounting records, supporting documents and working papers are properly maintained and filed.
Ensure assigned accounting tasks and closing reports are completed within the Group's required deadlines.
Identify and recommend improvements to GL, reconciliation, closing, reporting and internal control processes.
Perform any other accounting and finance duties assigned by the Accounts Manager.
Diploma/Degree in Accounting/Finance/ACCA
Minimum 2-3 years of full set accounting experience, preferable with audit experience
Possess a willing-to-learn attitude
Team player with good communication skills
Proficient in MS Office and Excel
Possess the authorization right to work in Singapore
Office will be relocated to Commonwealth (walking distance to Commonwealth MRT)
