Accountant (Maternity cover)

Job summary

Private Advertiser in Singapore is seeking an experienced Finance professional to manage the full set of accounts for the company and its subsidiaries. You will handle day-to-day bookkeeping, month-end and year-end closings, GST and tax compliance, and support audits while contributing to Group reporting and internal controls.

The role requires a diploma/degree in accountancy (ACCA/CPA preferred), 3–5 years of hands-on experience with full-set accounts, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, SQL,

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Accountancy, or ACCA/CPA or equivalent.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience, with hands-on ownership of full sets of accounts essential.
• Prior experience within the Distribution, Logistics or Trading industry will be preferred.
• Experience with subsidiaries in China & Indonesia and/or dealing with chemicals & rubber products will be an advantage.
• Experience working in SMEs previously and willing to work in a small team will be preferred. Meticulous, organised and able to work independently to meet reporting deadlines.
• Knowledge of basic programming and SQL is an added advantage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, including Access and VBA (Macros).
• Familiar with Microsoft Business Central (NAVISION) & Dynamics 365.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the full set of accounts for the company and/or assigned subsidiaries.
• Perform day-to-day bookkeeping, data entry, invoice processing, payment preparation and vendor/customer reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals and prepayments, and support month-end and year-end closing.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements and supporting schedules for management and statutory reporting.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules, and track capital expenditure.
• Perform intercompany reconciliations and prepare consolidation schedules to support Group reporting.
• Ensure all accounting activities comply with Group accounting policies and Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS).
• Assist in GST returns and corporate tax computations; liaise with tax agents.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the full set of accounts for the company and/or assigned subsidiaries covering day-to-day bookkeeping, month-end and year-end closing, GST and tax compliance, and audit support while contributing to Group Finance reporting and controls.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Full Set of Accounts – Core Duties

• Maintain the full set of accounts (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and Bank Reconciliations) for the company and/or assigned subsidiaries.
• Perform day-to-day bookkeeping, including data entry, invoice processing, payment preparation and vendor/customer reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals and prepayments, and support timely month-end and year-end closing.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements and supporting schedules for management and statutory reporting.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules, and track capital expenditure.
• Perform intercompany reconciliations and prepare consolidation schedules to support Group reporting.

Tax, Audit & Reporting

• Prepare GST returns and ensure accurate, timely submission in accordance with statutory deadlines.
• Assist in the preparation of corporate tax computations and liaise with tax agents on related matters.
• Support internal and external audit requirements, including preparation of audit schedules, reconciliations and supporting documentation.
• Provide monthly management reporting, extracting data from designed and structured templates with Visual Basic macros and SQL embedded.
• Assist in analysing trends and key performance indicators, including revenues, cost of sales, fixed costs and capital expenditure.
• Support treasury and cash flow monitoring matters, including forex-related transactions, as required.
• Assist the Finance Manager in establishing and maintaining internal controls and financial policies & procedures.
• Liaise with internal departments on invoice, payment and reporting queries.
• Any other tasks assigned by the Reporting Officer.
