Job summary

Nexxus Capital Management in Singapore is seeking an Accountant to support financial operations, accurate bookkeeping, and timely reporting.

You will coordinate across North American, European, and Singapore time zones, assist audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance, while maintaining robust filing and budgeting processes.

This role requires a degree in accounting or finance, professional qualifications are a plus, and strong Excel/use of accounting software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • Professional qualifications (CPA/ACCA/CA) are a plus.
  • Proven experience as an Accountant, Bookkeeper, or similar role.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the general ledger with accurate transactions.
  • Handle day-to-day bookkeeping: AP, AR, and bank reconciliations.
  • Organize financial files in online and offline systems.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Assist with external audits and liaise with auditors.
  • Support tax filings and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain MAS regulatory documentation and internal controls.
  • Manage office budget including petty cash and expenses.
  • Reconcile expense reports, invoices, and vendor payments.
  • Support fund and portfolio-level financial reporting across time zones.
  • Identify process improvements and design new financial systems.
  • Provide ad hoc research and reporting support.

Job Summary:

The Accountant is responsible for supporting the firm's financial operations, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, timely reporting, and compliance with regulatory and internal standards. This role includes a variety of tasks such as maintaining financial records, preparing reports, supporting audits, and assisting with various finance-related projects. The firm's core investment markets are global developed markets. The Accountant will therefore frequently coordinate across North American, European, and Singapore time zones, particularly around reporting cycles and audit deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and maintain financial files in an organized filing system, both online and offline.
  • Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
  • Support the preparation of materials for external audits and liaise with auditors as needed.
  • Assist with tax filings and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with compliance measures, including maintaining documentation for MAS regulatory requirements and supporting internal compliance reviews.
  • Manage the office budget, including petty cash and office expense tracking, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
  • Reconcile expense reports, invoices, and vendor payments.
  • Support fund and portfolio-level financial reporting, coordinating with colleagues across time zones as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial workflows and help design and implement new systems.
  • Provide other financial and administrative support as necessary, including research and ad hoc reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional qualifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CA) are a plus.
  • Proven experience as an Accountant, Bookkeeper, or in another relevant finance role.
  • Big 4 audit or accounting experience is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel in particular); familiarity with accounting software is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment.
