Job summary

Xishan Primary School seeks a Science Laboratory Assistant to support teaching and science facilities. The role runs Monday to Friday, 7:30am–2:30pm, with a 30-minute lunch break.

Responsibilities include preparing resources, assisting with experiments, operating ICT/SCIENCE equipment, inventory checks, and maintaining lab safety and cleanliness. The position requires at least a GCE O-Level qualification and 2 years in a lab support role, plus strong teamwork and Excel skills.

Qualifications

• At least GCE O-Level qualification.
• At least two years of experience as a Science Laboratory Assistant or Laboratory Technician.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to organise work, adapt to changing needs and multitask.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organise resources for Science teaching and learning.
• Assist teachers with experiment setups and the preparation, distribution and clearing of resources for Science lessons and activities.
• Set up and operate ICT and Science equipment, including projectors, iPads, dataloggers and microscopes.
• Conduct annual inventory checks and stocktakes of resources and equipment in the two Science Laboratories and TinkerSpace; update records.
• Organise, label and maintain storage of Science resources and equipment; maintain cleanliness and support safe use of the laboratories and TinkerSpace.
• Assist with simple Science enrichment activities during designated recesses and school events, including animal life-cycle displays and creative toys.
• Support resource loans and annual stocktakes for Science programmes, including Science Sparkles and E2K-Ignite.
• Feed and maintain mealworm beetles, the stick insect enclosure and other live specimens used for learning.
• Perform other Science-related duties assigned to support the Science Department.

Contract Period: 4 January 2027 to 31 December 2028.

Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:

• Mondays to Fridays: 7:30am to 2:30pm, inclusive of a 30-minute lunch break.
• Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays, gazetted public holidays or March, June, September and November/December school holidays, unless specified by the school.
