Job summary

Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Primary School seeks a dedicated Lab Support Assistant to prepare resources, set up the science lab, and maintain materials for lessons and activities.

You will manage equipment storage, keep two science rooms and a makerspace clean, and assist with teaching duties as directed by leadership. English communication and basic digital skills are required.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle primary science laboratory apparatus correctly and be detail oriented.
• Ability to multitask, work independently and meet deadlines.
• Basic spoken and written English and ability to communicate with teachers via WhatsApp.
• Preference for experience in science laboratories or primary schools, with 3+ years preferred.
• Proficiency in Google Sheets for checking weekly lab schedules and basic MS Office skills.

Job description

Name of Authority: Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Primary School

Contract Period: 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2027. Excluding June and December school holidays.

Option period: 1 January 2028 to 31 December 2028. Excluding June and December school holidays.

Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:

• Mondays to Fridays: 7:30am to 2:00pm (5.5 hours), inclusive of a one-hour lunch break.
• Service not normally required on Saturdays, Sundays, gazetted public holidays, school holidays or days without lessons (e.g. Exam Administration Day or Parent-Teacher Meeting).
• Service may be required on certain days without lessons, with advance notification.

Requirements:

• Ability to handle primary science laboratory apparatus correctly; organised and attentive to detail.
• Ability to multitask, work independently and meet deadlines.
• Basic spoken and written English and ability to communicate with teachers through WhatsApp.
• Preferred: experience in science laboratories, primary schools or equivalent environments, preferably at least three years; science education experience, such as workshops or learning journeys, preferably at least three years.
• Preferred: ability to use Google Sheets to check weekly laboratory schedules (on-the-job training available), at least grade C6 in GCE O-Level Science subjects, and basic Microsoft Word/Excel skills.

Job Scopes:

1. Prepare resources for lessons, enrichment, competitions, exhibitions, recycling campaigns, garden trails and other teaching and learning activities.
2. Set up the science laboratory/makerspace before activities and clear up afterwards.
3. Organise storage of apparatus, equipment, printed resources and perishables.
4. Maintain and replenish learning materials, including simple cleaning, drying and stocktaking, and assist with purchasing materials.
5. Maintain the cleanliness of two science rooms and one makerspace room.
6. Perform other teaching and learning duties assigned by the Teacher-in-Charge, Level Head or Head of Department.
