Job summary

Sinch seeks a SVP Engineering to own the Build Platform and drive the AI-first transformation across the company. You will lead a ~30-person team, align with Product leadership, and deliver a coherent developer experience across Voice, Messaging, Email, and Applications products.

You will mentor leaders, shape the technical roadmap, and champion innovative tooling while ensuring scalable, secure, and reliable platforms for millions of messages and calls globally.

DESCRIPTION

Sinch's APIs move billions of messages, calls, and emails for developers around the world. We're looking for a VP of Engineering to own the platform they all live in and to make Sinch the easiest place for the next wave of AI agents to integrate with. This is a critical leadership role reporting directly to our Chief Product Officer (CPO).

You will lead a ~30-person organization responsible for the Sinch Build Platform, the horizontal foundation for our Voice, Messaging, Email, and Applications products. This is a unique opportunity to solve complex technical challenges, unify the developer and agentic experience across our entire portfolio, and provide the senior technical leadership needed to mentor the team. Your success will be pivotal in driving our AI-first transformation and shaping the future of global customer communication.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead AI-First Innovation: Champion AI-first engineering practices and workflows, actively exploring the adoption of AI-assisted development tools to accelerate team productivity.
• Define & Own the Technical Strategy: Establish the technical vision and roadmap for the entire portfolio. Agentic and developer experience, Sinch Build Platform, covering identity, customer/account models, developer tooling, documentation, and API connectivity.
• Cultivate Engineering Excellence: Lead, grow, and nurture a distributed engineering organization of ~30 people with 3 direct reports (Engineering Managers), building a high-performing culture with strong technical guidance.
• Deliver Coherent Experiences: Create one coherent, world-class experience for developers and AI agents across all Sinch products, simplifying a complex, inherited, and fragmented platform landscape.
• Establish Effective Governance: Define the operating model for how your Platform team partners with key stakeholders across our various global Product Areas, driving adoption and platform reuse through trust and collaboration.
• Partner for Product Impact: Work closely with Product leadership to translate platform investment into measurable business outcomes like faster onboarding and reduced integration friction.

REQUIREMENTS

• Proven Engineering Leadership: A senior engineering executive who has successfully built and led multi-team engineering organizations (with managers reporting to you), managing budgets, hiring, and strategic resourcing.
• Developer Platform Expertise: Deep experience working with developer-facing products like APIs, SDKs, and developer portals. You measure success by outcome, active adoption, and developer satisfaction rather than just delivery milestones.
• Hands-on Tech & AI Credibility: Solid understanding of modern platform technologies, IAM systems, and API connectivity. Experience with or a strong strategic interest in agentic AI (such as MCP servers, tool-calling design, and agentic integrations) is highly valued.
• Collaborative Change Agent: A humble, highly collaborative leader capable of navigating a complex stakeholder environment and driving technical transformation through influence and credibility.
• Location & Presence: This role is based in Stockholm, Sweden on a hybrid model. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate to Stockholm to collaborate closely with the core team.

Salary: The monthly gross salary for this position is between SEK 125,000 to SEK 170,000 monthly. This position is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, and other qualifications. The overall budget remains flexible for an exceptional, SVP-level candidate.
