Job summary

Telia Cygate is seeking a VMware Technician to join our managed services team. You will design, implement, operate and troubleshoot VMware-based solutions in critical environments.

The role requires at least five years of VMware experience, strong knowledge of vSphere, ESXi, vCenter and vSAN, plus Windows/Linux, and fluency in Swedish with English as a secondary language.

We offer opportunities for remote work and expect you to participate in on-call and standby duties as part of the role.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience with VMware infrastructure.
• Deep knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter and vSAN.
• Good knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, storage and networking.
• Experience with hybrid and cloud environments and VMware Cloud Director is a plus.
• Certifications such as VCP/VCAP are highly valued.
• Native or near-native fluency in Swedish and strong English skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate VMware vSphere and VCF environments and manage ESXi, vCenter, vSAN.
• Install, upgrade and optimize virtualization platforms and monitor performance.
• Support capacity planning, backups, DR and high availability.
• Enforce ITSM processes, contribute to security work and documentation.
• Collaborate with other teams and provide technical guidance.

Job description

We are looking for a VMware Technician to join us at Telia Cygate. My name is Petra Peric, Head of Cloud Operation, and I’m looking for someone who wants to grow together with us. We are a supportive and forward-looking delivery team within Managed Services, responsible for delivering hybrid and cloud services across Telia Cygate. We are growing within this area and are now looking for more experts to join us.

What you’ll do:

As an VMware Technician, you will work with advanced virtualization capabilities and play an important role in our infrastructure team. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and troubleshooting of VMware-based solutions in business-critical environments.

• Operate and administrate VMware vSphere and VCF environments
• Manage ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, and VMware Cloud Director
• Install, upgrade, and optimize virtualization platforms
• Operate sovereign cloud solutions
• Monitor performance, optimize capacity, and support capacity planning
• Work with backup, Disaster Recovery, and high availability solutions
• Contribute to security work and documentation
• Collaborate closely with other teams
• Provide technical guidance both internally and externally
• Support change management and work according to ITSM processes
• Participate in on-call and standby duties.

What will help you thrive in this role:

To succeed in this role, you have at least 5 years of experience working with VMware infrastructure. You enjoy taking ownership, working independently, and driving technical initiatives forward in complex environments.

• Very strong knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and vSAN
• Good knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, storage, and networking
• Good understanding of backup solutions such as Veeam
• Strong experience with hybrid and cloud environments
• Certifications within VCP, VCAP, or similar are highly valued
• Ability to work independently and drive technical projects
• Native or near-native fluency in Swedish is required, along with strong English skills
• Due to customer and security requirements, Swedish citizenship is required

It is also a plus if you have experience or knowledge within:

• Hyperconverged infrastructure
• Aria Operations / VCF Operations
• NSX
• HPE OneView
• Physical data center work
• DELL, HPE, or IBM environments
• Red Hat OpenShift
