Job summary

MAX IV Laboratory seeks a beamline scientist with a strong background in tomography and materials science to help construct and commission a new beamline. You will develop imaging methodologies, collaborate across divisions, and drive an independent research program in partnership with users and collaborators.

The role involves planning, installation, software integration, and active engagement with the user community, with opportunities for leadership and international collaboration.

Qualifications

• PhD in a STEM field and a strong scientific profile in materials science.
• Solid background in tomographic imaging or X-ray microscopy with hands-on instrument integration experience.
• Proven record of research activity including proposals, publications and conference presentations.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to installation and commissioning of beamline instrumentation (optics, stages, detectors).
• Develop and implement software for tomographic reconstruction and image analysis with the team.
• Drive a research program through national and international collaborations.
• Present findings in internal forums, conferences, and peer-reviewed journals.
• Engage with MAX IV users, deliver talks and foster collaborations.
