Axis Communications in Lund, Sweden, seeks a Team Lead and Embedded Software Engineer to guide the System Products Recorder team while contributing to the codebase in Linux user space. The dual role combines leadership of backlog, sprints, and stakeholders with hands-on development in C, Go, and Python in an embedded Linux environment.
You will remove obstacles, define priorities, and foster collaboration across product management, development teams, testers, and external partners.
At Axis Communications we have delivered several groundbreaking products and look forward to pioneering many more. We are now looking to strengthen our System Products Recorder team with an Embedded Software Engineer & Team Lead at our HQ in Lund, Sweden.
The System Products Recorder team develops software for new Linux Network Recorders and storage features in our user‑space Linux platform, AXIS OS. We are a diverse group with a wide range of skills, experiences, and backgrounds, united by a shared enthusiasm for software development and emerging technologies. We foster a supportive, inclusive environment where collaboration and continuous learning are central. Everyone on the team is encouraged to share ideas, support one another, and grow together. Your voice matters here, and your contributions will help shape the future of our products.
This is a dual role in which you divide your time roughly evenly between leading the team and contributing to its technical work. As team lead, you guide the team’s way of working and overall delivery – keeping the backlog healthy, sprints on track, and stakeholders aligned. You create the conditions for your colleagues to do their best work by removing obstacles, facilitating constructive discussions, and ensuring that priorities are clear and well understood. An important part of the role is building your personal network across Axis. You will work closely with product management, neighboring development teams, testers, and external partners, and over time you will become a natural link between our team and the wider organization. Knowing who to talk to, and establishing the trust that makes collaboration straightforward, is as valuable in this role as technical expertise. As an engineer, you remain close to the technology and contribute directly to the codebase. Development is primarily done in C, Go, and Python in an embedded Linux environment, and we always keep the end user in mind – even when our deliverables are consumed by other software. Your hands‑on involvement gives you the insight to discuss trade‑offs with the team, ask the right questions, and understand what lies behind an estimate.
You are an engineer who enjoys solving problems through code and who also finds satisfaction in seeing a team succeed. You bring structure to complexity, communicate clearly, and build relationships naturally. You are comfortable facilitating discussions, supporting decisions, and following through on commitments. Your path to this role may vary. Perhaps you have already led a team, worked as a scrum master, or driven projects as a technical lead. Alternatively, you may be an experienced developer who has begun taking on coordinating responsibilities and now wishes to develop further in a leadership direction. Both backgrounds are equally welcome. If this role appeals to you, we would like to hear from you – even if your experience does not match every point below.
We are a world leader in network video, where cutting‑edge technology meets global impact. Here, you’ll contribute to meaningful projects that shape the future of security and surveillance – developing solutions used worldwide. As a fast‑growing company, we offer exciting career opportunities. You’ll grow professionally through continuous learning, supported by a collaborative team that values creativity, innovation, and work‑life balance.
Our Lund HQ Campus, including the impressive Grenden building, offers a dynamic environment with spaces crafted to encourage collaboration, whether through informal “fika” chats, formal meetings, or after‑hours activities. Check it out: Axis HQ.
Your well‑being matters to us. We offer a range of benefits, including a company bonus, Friday cake, wellness allowance, health insurance — and even your own Axis bicycle.
