Job summary

Axis Communications in Linköping seeks an experienced embedded software engineer to join the hardware development team. You will work across software, hardware, and product management to translate complex challenges into clear requirements and robust solutions.

Develop in C, C++, or Rust for embedded Linux and MCU, write tests, and collaborate with colleagues across sites. The role is on-site in Ebbepark with a collaborative culture and opportunities to grow.

What you’ll do as an Experienced Embedded Software Engineer:

As an experienced embedded software engineer in our team, you collaborate and communicate a lot with other stakeholders within Axis, both in Linköping and on other sites to deliver products. You’ll act as a bridge between software, hardware, and product management, translating complex technical challenges into clear requirements and solutions for different stakeholders.

Your main software objective will be to build functional, scalable and high-quality solutions in a common code base. Our software responsibilities span all the way from hardware via drivers, system services, API:s to web-based interfaces, with the main work being:

• Developing software in C, C++ or Rust for embedded Linux systems.
• Developing software in C or Rust for MCU
• Using Git, Gerrit and GitHub for revision handling and review.
• Writing unit and system test cases.

We also expect AI-assisted development to be a natural part of your daily workflow. You are already using tools such as GitHub Copilot, or similar AI assistants to accelerate development, improve code quality, solve problems, and learn new technologies.

In addition to the experience within the above-mentioned areas, the following would be meriting:

• Experience in network protocols and firmware/software development for network switches or other networking equipment. Especially for Linux platforms.
• Experience of roles with responsibilities such as, code ownership, system design, work planning.
• Experience working with Yocto and embedded Linux systems.
• Experience of programming languages as Python, Shell and Typescript
