Job summary

Backlight is seeking a Staff Product Designer to own the strategic direction and architecture of our core platform, translating complex business logic and user needs into scalable design frameworks.

You'll partner with Engineering and Product to shape roadmaps, expand the design system, and mentor senior designers, while defending design decisions to leadership. This hybrid role is based in Stockholm/London with global impact.

Qualifications

• Portfolio showing end-to-end ownership of complex B2B SaaS platforms.
• 2-3+ years at Staff- or senior level with impact in ambiguous environments.
• Ability to translate analytics and feedback into strategic design decisions.
• Expertise in Figma, component architecture, and design system expansion.
• Ability to frame tradeoffs and defend decisions to leadership.

As a Staff Product Designer, you will own the strategic direction and product architecture for our core platform. You'll translate complex business logic and user needs into scalable design frameworks and exceptional user experiences, driving impact from vision to delivery.

Requirements

• A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership of complex B2B SaaS platforms.


• 2-3+ years at the Staff- or senior level, with proven impact in ambiguous environments.


• Ability to translate fragmented inputs (analytics, feedback) into strategic design decisions.


• Expertise in Figma, component architecture, and design system expansion.


• Skill in framing tradeoffs and defending decisions to leadership.

Bonus points

• A keen eye for micro-interactions and product polish.


• Experience with AI-assisted design tools.


• Background in video, image production, or media workflows.


• Experience designing 0-1 products or major platform overhauls.
