Job summary

Low Noise Factory AB in Gothenburg seeks a Staff Engineer to join the expanding R&D team. You will collaborate on new product development, device characterization, and product support, acting as a bridge between internal units and external stakeholders.

Job description

Overview

Low Noise Factory (LNF) designs and produces the world\'s best low noise microwave amplifiers for cryogenic and space-related applications, including quantum computing and radio astronomy. Our 1500 m² facility in Gothenburg houses electronics assembly and high frequency cryogenic testing, with access to advanced cleanrooms for semiconductor circuits. LNF employs 25 people from 15 different countries and collaborates with academic and scientific communities to advance technology.

Responsibilities

We are expanding our R&D department with a Staff Engineer. The role involves close collaboration on different stages of products with cross-department responsibilities. You will work on new product development, device characterization, and product support, and serve as a bridge between various parts of the organization and external stakeholders. A portion of the time will be dedicated to customer communication, problem identification, and product repair to gain insights into field usage and service needs. The following tasks are representative of the role:

  • Semiconductor devices
    • Device evaluation
    • Reliability testing
    • Transistor modeling
  • Product development
    • Design of new products such as LNAs, MMICs, PCB boards, and RF modules
    • Application engineering
  • Measurement
    • Verification and validation
    • Test system improvement and customization
    • Data extraction and analysis
Qualifications
  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. in electrical engineering, microwave and wireless, nanotechnology/semiconductor processing, or a related field
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Solid knowledge of RF and microwave engineering
  • Broad interest across the product lifecycle
  • Attentive to detail with problem-solving and team-player attitude
Valuable additional skills
  • Experience with RF design tools such as Microwave Office, HFSS, or similar
  • Experience in assembly (soldering and bonding)
  • Hands-on experience with RF measurement equipment (e.g., VNA)
  • Experience in mechanical CAD design
  • Interest in end-to-end design from simulation to productization
  • Experience in customer relations and communication
  • Experience with cryogenic equipment and/or cleanroom environments
