Join Coherent's Optoelectronics team in Järfälla and play a key role in the development of next‑generation products at the leading edge of integrated opto‑semiconductor technology. As a Design Engineer, you will work at the intersection of integrated optics, high‑speed electronics, and semiconductor laser and modulator technology, contributing to innovative solutions that enable high‑performance computing and ultra‑high‑speed fiber‑optic communications.

What You Will Be Doing

• Design integrated optoelectronic components, including semiconductor lasers with integrated high‑speed modulators.
• Develop lithography mask sets and work closely with process integration and wafer fabrication teams to implement device designs.
• Contribute to the selection of technology platforms and technical solutions for new product development projects.
• Drive the development of new technologies required to support future products and applications.
• Contribute to defining and maintaining the technology roadmap for integrated optoelectronic devices.
• Collaborate with engineering, process development, manufacturing, and product teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Support device characterization, testing, and performance analysis activities as required.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance, manufacturability, and reliability.

About You

• MSc in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, Semiconductor Technology, or a related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience; or PhD with a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience within the optoelectronics or semiconductor industry.
• Broad technical knowledge of semiconductor technology and optoelectronic devices.
• Deep expertise in one or more areas related to semiconductor process technology and integrated optoelectronic devices.
• Experience in semiconductor device design, preferably within III‑V material systems.
• Good understanding of InP or GaAs semiconductor process technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Swedish language proficiency is desirable.
