HMS Industrial Networks in the Netherlands is seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to embedded diagnostics and cloud-connected solutions. You will be involved across the full software lifecycle, from requirements analysis to testing and maintenance.

Work with Java, Spring, and Angular on Ewon Cloud, and help expand cloud services while collaborating with international teams to deliver reliable software that connects edge devices to modern cloud platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, or equivalent experience.
  • Several years of software development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Java development and in-depth experience with the Spring framework.
  • Knowledge of software design principles, testing methodologies, and debugging techniques.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git, ideally with GitLab.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts and communication protocols.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative international environment.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining embedded software for industrial diagnostics products.
  • Contributing to the development of cloud-based applications and services on the Ewon Cloud platform using Java, Spring, and Angular.
  • Implementing and executing unit, integration, and E2E tests to ensure software quality and reliability.
  • Collaborating with product owners, architects, and fellow engineers to define and deliver new features.
  • Writing clean, maintainable code following software engineering best practices.

Our mission is to design, implement, and maintain reliable software that helps customers monitor, diagnose, and optimize their industrial operations.

Working in an international environment, you will collaborate closely with colleagues across different HMS locations and product teams. Our team develops both embedded software for industrial devices for diagnostics and cloud-based solutions for remote access. As HMS continues to expand its Cloud platform, built on AWS and leveraging technologies such as Java, Spring, and Angular, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to software that connects industrial edge devices with modern cloud services.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development of software for our industrial diagnostics products and cloud-connected solutions. You will be involved throughout the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and implementation to testing and maintenance.

Required Experience
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, or equivalent experience.
  • Several years of experience in software development.
  • Strong proficiency in Java development & in-depth experience with the Spring framework.
  • Knowledge of software design principles, testing methodologies, and debugging techniques.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git, ideally with GitLab.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts and communication protocols.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative international environment.
Nice to have
  • Experience with Angular is a huge plus.
  • Experience with AI agentic workflows.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Infrastructure & Services (e.g., AWS concepts like EC2, S3, Docker, Kubernetes) to understand deployment environments.
  • Experience with testing frameworks (e.g. Robot for E2E testing, JUnit, Mockito for Java; Jasmine, Karma, Jest for Angular).
  • Experience with RabbitMQ or other messaging queues.
  • Experience developing REST APIs and distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with Linux-based development environments.
  • Experience with embedded software development using C++.
  • Understanding of software architecture and system design principles.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and connectivity solutions (Profinet, Ethernet/IP and Profibus).
