Job summary

Billogram, a European payments platform, is seeking a Software Developer to own impact on the backend in Stockholm. You will work with Python, and AWS, shaping solutions with Product and engineering managers, and contributing to AI-driven development in a regulated payments codebase.

You’ll balance building new features with refining existing systems, improving scalability and reliability as the product grows across markets.

Qualifications

To strengthen our position as a leading European payment platform, we're looking for a Software Developer to join our team in Stockholm.

About the Role

This is an individual contributor role for someone who wants to own their impact and shape real outcomes. You'll join a cross-functional team made up of engineers, a product manager, and an engineering manager, working closely together to build and evolve the backend of our product. You'll be involved early, helping define solutions, not just implementing them.

How we work is a big part of this role. Engineers here are trusted to take a problem, understand it deeply, and drive it forward. That means working closely with Product, shaping solutions together and caring about what happens after things go live.

You'll spend most of your time building and evolving core parts of the product. A big part of the role is also working with what's already there. You'll improve existing solutions, deal with technical debt where it matters and make sure we can handle increasing scale and complexity as we grow. Some of what's already there is written in PHP, though Python is what you'll mainly be building with.

AI is a core part of how we build software here, and we're looking for engineers who already work this way, with hands‑on experience in AI coding tools and agentic development in real projects, not just interest in the idea. Because you own what you ship in a regulated payments codebase, we need strong judgment about where AI helps and where it doesn't, and people who review and understand generated code rather than taking it at face value. We also want people who raise the level around them, trying new tooling and helping the team grow with them.

What we look for

• Strong experience in Python, which is what you'll be building with at Billogram. Coming from another language?

• Experience building and running software in the cloud, ideally AWS

• Comfortable working closely with Product in defining problems and shaping solutions

• Taking ownership of features through to production, building systems that are reliable and maintainable, and following up on how they perform

• Ability to break down complex problems and make pragmatic trade-offs to move things forward

• Hands‑on with AI development tools, including planning mode, building skills, custom agents, or orchestrating workflows

Nice to have

• Experience working with payment systems or other financial services

• Experience building systems that operate at scale or across multiple markets

• Background in both B2B and B2C products

• Working with domain‑driven design concepts
