Job summary

Kaisa Technologies AB in Sweden (Uppsala) is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and evolve scalable backend services and APIs. You will work with Product and Engineering to translate business needs into robust technical solutions as we grow.

You will explore AI capabilities, including LLM-based workflows, and mentor engineers while maintaining a collaborative, results-driven culture. This role is based in Uppsala with hands-on cloud & backend work.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software development with a focus on scalable architectures.
• Strong Node.js and TypeScript backend experience.
• Designing, building, and scaling distributed microservices and APIs.
• Experience working with AI agents and integrating LLM-based workflows into production.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficient with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis).
• Experience with Python or PHP is a plus.
• Degree in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning or similar or equivalent experience.
• Proactive and collaborative; capable of mentoring others.
• Excellent communication across technical and non-technical teams.

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll play an important role in building and evolving our products. You’ll be part of a collaborative engineering team, working closely with Product and Engineering to solve interesting problems and help shape our technology as we grow.

You’ll have the opportunity to work hands-on with modern backend technologies and AI, while contributing to the way we design, build, and improve our systems. We value people who are curious, pragmatic, and enjoy sharing ideas and learning from others.

What you'll do

You’ll design, build, and evolve scalable backend services, APIs, and event-driven systems. You’ll contribute to architectural decisions, help improve the quality and scalability of our technology, and work with the team to address technical challenges and opportunities.

You’ll also work closely with Product to turn business needs into technical solutions and help bring new ideas into production. A part of the role will be exploring and integrating AI capabilities, including LLMs and agentic workflows, as well as using AI tools to improve how we develop software.

As a senior member of the team, you’ll also support and mentor other engineers, contribute to technical discussions, and help create a collaborative environment where the team can do great work.

What we're looking for

You likely have 5+ years of professional backend experience, think carefully about architecture, and are genuinely curious about AI — while staying comfortable working across a broad range of domains and shifting priorities. More specifically:

• Backend Expertise: Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript.

• Architecture & Microservices: Experience designing, building, and scaling distributed microservices and APIs.

• AI & LLMs: Experience working with AI agents and integrating LLM-based workflows into production systems.

• Cloud & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, and automated CI/CD pipelines.

• Database Management: Comfortable working with both SQL and NoSQL databases, such as MySQL, DynamoDB, and Redis.

• AI Development Tools: Experience using AI development tools to support and improve everyday engineering workflows.

• Experience with Python and PHP is considered a plus.

• A degree in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning or similar is a plus but equivalent experience counts just as much.
