Job summary

AstraZeneca is seeking a Senior Scientist in Gothenburg to lead biochemical assay development and mass spectrometry applications within the Assay, Profiling & Cell Sciences group. The role focuses on designing, validating, and applying assays for drug discovery, including mechanism-of-action studies.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD (or MSc with significant experience) and strong expertise in mass spectrometry, plus a broad set of biochemical assay techniques.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry or MSc with significant relevant experience.
• Expertise in mass spectrometry and detection of enzymatic reactions.
• Broad understanding of biochemical assay methods (e.g., fluorescence, luminescence) across targets.
• Excellent problem-solving and scientific communication skills.
• Excellent teamwork and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and validate biochemical assays for drug discovery projects.
• Advance internal mass spectrometry capabilities for screening and mechanism-of-action profiling.
• Contribute to Drug Discovery Project Teams with novel ideas and informed judgment.
• Plan and deliver work streams on parallel objectives within timelines.
• Stay current with literature and identify opportunities for process improvements.
