Job summary

European Spallation Source ERIC (ESS) invites applications for a Senior Scientific Software Developer focusing on interactive data analysis applications for neutron scattering. You will build Python-based tools and Jupyter workflows, contribute to open-source projects, and collaborate with DMSC developers, instrument scientists, and users.

This full-time position is based in Kongens Lyngby, Denmark, with an international team, strong development culture, and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Strong Python development experience and a portfolio of software used by real users.
• Experience with scientific computing, data analysis, or technically complex applications.
• Familiarity with modern development practices such as testing, CI/CD, and version control.
• Experience delivering and maintaining production‑quality scientific software, making pragmatic technical decisions, and providing mentoring and technical leadership.
• Experience in neutron scattering, x‑ray science, reflectometry, or spectroscopy is valuable but not required.
• Familiarity with PyQt, PySide, QML, or Jupyter is beneficial.
