Job summary

An innovative research organization in Sweden is seeking a summer worker for the Software Developer role in the Detector group. Responsibilities include supporting improvements in testbed setups for neutron detectors and utilizing software tools to analyze and present data from test results. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Python and data processing, along with good communication skills. This is a 3-month position on-site at ESS in Lund, starting around June 1st, 2026.

Job description

We are now looking to appoint a summer worker for the Detector group in the NSS (Neutron Scattering System) division.

The Detector group is responsible for design, production, assembly, testing, installation, commission, reparation, and maintenance of the detectors and the peripheral systems. Now, the Detector group is expanding in its capacity to receive detector systems from ESS In-Kind partners as well as to produce ESS own detector systems for the delivery of ESS’ first 16 instruments.

As an Software Developer - summer worker your main tasks will be as followings:

• Support improvements of testbed setup for neutron detectors
• Sort out and present data from test results using software tools

About you

A suitable background for this position would be:

• Having expertise in Python
• Having practical experience in data processing
• Having previous experience working with neutron detector systems is a merit
• Good written and oral communication skills in English
• Minimum age 18 years.

Duration and location

This is a summer work position of 3 months.
