Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience with deep Rust proficiency across network services, asynchronous code, and distributed systems design.
• A track record of owning systems, not just features, with architectural decisions in production.
• Product engineering mindset: shipping features from problem to launch with customer impact and metrics.
• Demonstrated impact through mentoring, design reviews, technical writing, or setting team standards.
• Experience driving work across teams or orgs and aligning sequencing with code.
• AI-first development approach where AI aids coding, understanding codebases, and validating implementations.
• Ownership mindset with collaborative spirit and willingness to ship valuable products over manual code.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture and delivery of customer-facing Rust backend services powering trading, payments, and crypto experiences.
• Take ambiguous, multi-quarter problems from idea to shipped and measured, breaking them down for parallel progress.
• Own features end-to-end, including frontend impact and the product problem behind what you're building.
• Partner with product leadership to shape the roadmap for a product area, bringing engineering insight and owning outcomes.
• Drive cross-team initiatives across Kraken's trading infrastructure, platform, and other product teams.
• Mentor mid-level engineers, review designs, unblock teammates, and establish reusable patterns.
• Use AI extensively to amplify scope and speed, and help the team adopt effective AI-assisted engineering.
