Senior Linux Kernel Engineer – Stockholm
As a senior engineer in the Product Platforms team, you will design, implement, and validate Linux‑based kernel and driver solutions for Axis’s next‑generation in‑house ARTPEC system‑on‑chips, collaborating closely with ASIC designers, R&D teams in Lund, and external partners.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with ASIC design engineers to research, develop, and document software solutions for Axis’ ASIC and product platforms.
- Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and specification meetings to ensure solution quality and feasibility.
- Design, implement, or utilize test environments for solution validation and optimisation.
- Prepare software for, and participate in, bring‑up and validation of our SoCs, debugging issues and implementing fixes.
- Evaluate hardware blocks, platforms, and related documentation from a Linux‑kernel perspective.
- Interact with internal and external teams, such as customers, partners, or suppliers.
- Maintain and improve existing Linux‑kernel platforms for current and legacy products.
- Take primary responsibility for IP evaluation and selection.
- Perform all engineering activities related to Linux kernel development, including driver development, kernel configuration, upstream contributions, and providing domain expertise to other teams.
Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in Linux kernel development.
- Embedded C development and debugging, particularly close to hardware.
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and code review tools (Gerrit).
Additional valuable qualifications:
- Experience with Linux kernel upstream contributions.
- Background in SoC design from a software perspective, including ASIC IP configuration.
- Good understanding of the boot process of embedded devices.
- Basic knowledge of ASIC design.
- Experience using QEMU for system simulation.
- Experience with Python and Rust development.
