Job summary

Axis Communications in Lund, Sweden, is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join the Product Platforms Team. You will develop video product platforms and collaborate with partners to bring new technology to market, with occasional travel to the U.S. and Asia.

The role is hands-on and requires strong debugging skills and experience with embedded Linux. Qualifications include strong C/C++, Python, and system design abilities, plus mentoring experience and familiarity with Git/Gerrit.

Embedded Software Engineer – Lund, Sweden

We are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our Product Platforms Team in Lund, Sweden. You will work with Axis key technology, building technology product platforms on third–party camera chipsets that are central to Axis product development.

Responsibilities

As a key member of the product platform team you will work as a software developer on video product platforms and frameworks, bringing new technology to market. You will collaborate directly with Axis technology partners to secure the best video product platform and system agenda, traveling occasionally to vendors in the U.S. and Asia to evaluate, set requirements, improve, and ensure optimal quality of Axis products.

The role is hands‑on in a highly skilled team, contributing to Axis’s position as a technology leader in a competitive video surveillance market.

Qualifications

• Broad experience in overall system design and implementation.
• Strong programming skills in embedded Linux, C/C++, and Python.
• Experience working with technology and platform integration.
• Excellent debugging skills.
• Familiarity with version control systems and code review tools (Git and Gerrit).
• Experience mentoring other team members on technology projects.
• Master’s or Ph.D. in computer science, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering or a related field preferred.
• Strong personal drive, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Talent for the latest technology development and a genuine interest in embedded Linux platforms, frameworks, troubleshooting and software development.
• Collaborative skills working with diverse backgrounds (electronics, ASIC, software, managers, external partners).
