Job summary

Surgical Science is a global leader in medical training simulations and software. The position is based at our Gothenburg HQ, reporting to the Senior Director, IT, with a hybrid work culture that enables onsite and remote collaboration.

You will lead the stability, security and continuous improvement of our Microsoft-based infrastructure and network environment, combining hands-on work with IT improvement projects as the group grows.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience as a systems administrator or similar infrastructure role.
• Fluent Swedish and English, written and spoken.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Azure.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on networking experience in an operational role.
• Experience working in an international environment.

Responsibilities

• Administer and develop Microsoft 365 environment including Exchange Online, SharePoint and Teams.
• Manage identity and access via Entra ID (Azure AD) including conditional access and MFA.
• Operate and optimize Azure infrastructure with focus on security, cost control and reliability.
• Operate network infrastructure including firewalls, switching and Wi‑Fi.
• Operate and develop on‑prem virtual infrastructure.
• Drive security improvements, patch management, monitoring and backups.
• Document systems and processes per IT policies and standards.
• Contribute to best practices and continuous improvement.

This position will be based in our HQ in Gothenburg, reporting to Senior Director, IT.

Job Summary

You will be responsible for the stability, security and continuous improvement of our Microsoft-based infrastructure and our network environment. Working closely with colleagues in IT and across the business, you will be the lead for complex technical issues and you will help shape how our infrastructure evolves as the group grows. The role combines hands‑on operational work with improvement projects, and you will have real influence over how things are done.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Administering and developing our Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams and related services
• Managing identity and access through Entra ID (Azure AD), including conditional access, MFA and lifecycle management
• Operating and optimising our Azure infrastructure, with a focus on security, cost control and reliability
• Operating our network infrastructure, including firewalls, switching, Wi‑Fi and site‑to‑site connectivity between our offices
• Operating and developing our on‑prem virtual infrastructure
• Driving security improvements, patch management, monitoring and backup routines
• Documenting systems and processes according to, and contributing to, IT policies and standards
• Contribute to best practices and continuously improve ways of working

We believe you have several years of experience working as a systems administrator or in a similar infrastructure role, ideally in an international environment. You are comfortable owning complex systems end to end and enjoy both solving problems and preventing them from happening in the first place.

• Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both written and spoken
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Azure
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on networking experience in an operational role
• Experience in working in an international environment

It is beneficial if you also have any of the following

• Relevant Microsoft Certifications (for example Z-104, MS-102 or SC-300)
• CompTIA Security+ certifications
• Experience working in an ISO 27001-certified environment
• Experience operating virtual environments based on VMware and/or ProxMox.
• Global environment (English as primary language)
