Job summary

Massive Entertainment, part of the Ubisoft family, is seeking a Senior Gameplay Programmer for an unannounced project in an office-based role in Sweden. You will work on destruction and environmental interaction features using the Snowdrop engine, collaborating with designers, artists, and testers across the full feature lifecycle.

You’ll implement, optimize, and iterate gameplay systems, ensure believable destruction behavior, and own technical realization from prototype to final

Qualifications

  • Strong experience programming in C++ within game development.
  • Solid understanding of gameplay architecture and system-driven design.
  • Interest in and practical knowledge of destruction systems, physics-adjacent gameplay, or systemic world interactions.
  • Ability to work comfortably in a multithreaded, performance-critical environment.
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative, team-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, debug, and iterate on gameplay systems related to destruction and environmental interaction in collaboration with game designers.
  • Develop features in a C++ multithreaded engine using modern programming techniques.
  • Own the technical realization of complex gameplay features, from early prototypes to final implementation.
  • Collaborate closely with physics-aligned systems and engine features to ensure destruction behaviors are consistent and believable.
  • Optimize systems with performance awareness, including algorithms, memory usage, and bandwidth considerations.
  • Support designers and artists by exposing robust, usable gameplay tools and data.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve gameplay and system-level issues related to destructible content and systemic interactions.
  • Document systems and workflows to share knowledge and enable team adoption.
  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions to maintain high-quality, maintainable code.

We are looking for a Senior Gameplay Programmer to work on an unannounced project.
As a Senior Gameplay Programmer within our team, you will help bring dynamic and engaging gameplay experiences to life, with a strong focus ondestruction systems and interactive environments. You will work closely with programmers, designers, artists, and testers to design, implement, and evolve gameplay features using our in-house engine, Snowdrop. Throughout the full lifecycle of feature development, you will contribute both to what we create and how we create it, with a meaningful impact on technical quality and player experience.
