Job summary

Evam is seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer in Solna, Sweden, who is ready to step into an Engineering Manager role. In this position, you will lead a small team while remaining hands-on in both backend development using Spring Boot and Kotlin, and frontend development with React and TypeScript.

This role requires you to provide architectural direction, manage a product codebase, and utilize modern AI coding assistants in daily workflow to support critical operations for public safety organizations.

We're looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer who is also ready to step into an Engineering Manager role — someone who can architect and ship production code on Monday and coach a team through a tricky delivery on Tuesday. You'll lead a small, focused team while remaining deeply hands-on across our Spring Boot + Kotlin backend and our React + TypeScript frontend.

You'll own technical direction for your area of the platform: shaping architecture, setting the engineering bar, breaking down complex problems, and making sure what we build is robust, scalable, and maintainable. You should be senior enough to start a new product codebase from scratch and lay solid foundations, making the right calls on architecture, tooling, conventions, and testing strategy so the codebase stays healthy as the team and product grow. Equally important, you'll grow the people around you — running 1:1s, giving direct feedback, hiring, and creating an environment where senior engineers do their best work.

This is more than coding and people management. The software you build will be used by first responders during active incidents - supporting them in the most critical moments of emergency response.

Need to have:

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with senior-level depth in both Spring Boot + Kotlin and React + TypeScript
• Proven experience leading engineers — formally as a manager/tech lead, or informally as a senior who consistently raises the bar around them
• Demonstrable experience starting a product codebase from zero and growing it into something that other engineers can sustainably build on
• Strong architectural judgment: API design, data modeling, modularization, testing strategy, and knowing when not to add complexity
• Comfort across the stack: REST APIs, MongoDB (or other document databases), build pipelines, observability, and modern frontend patterns (hooks, state management, type-safe APIs)
• AI literacy is a must — you actively use AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, or similar) in your daily workflow and can show how they change the way you design, build, review, and ship
• Excellent communication in English, both written and verbal — you can write a clear RFC and run a productive code review
• A proactive, ownership-driven mindset and a real care for code quality, reliability, and team health- Motivation to work on software that has real-world impact, globally

Nice to have:

• Experience in regulated, safety-critical, or high-availability domains
• Experience hiring and onboarding senior engineers
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD
• Experience introducing AI tooling and practices at a team or org level
