Job summary

EDAG Group is seeking experienced Embedded Software Consultants to join the Eskilstuna team and help develop next-generation ECU software platforms. You will work across the embedded stack, from MCU hardware to RTOS integration, with opportunities to lead architecture decisions for more senior roles.

The role emphasizes real-time, safety-conscious embedded systems, cross-functional collaboration, and hands-on development or architectural leadership depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in low-level embedded software development.
• Strong C/C++ programming and knowledge of microcontrollers.
• Experience with RTOS and bootloaders, debugging and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate low-level embedded software for ECU platforms.
• Work with MCUs, bootloaders, HAL, and RTOS.
• Analyze, debug, and troubleshoot hardware/software integration issues.
• Perform verification and debugging using JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and trace tools.
• Contribute to software architecture, implementation, integration, and testing.
• Optimize real-time performance, including scheduling, interrupts, memory, and resources.
• For senior profiles: drive technical decisions, platform architecture, and complex migration activities.

EDAG Engineering Scandinavia AB, based in Gothenburg, serves as the group’s Scandinavian branch and a key partner in western Sweden. It combines strong local expertise with global resources to deliver comprehensive engineering solutions.

We are looking for experienced Embedded Software Consultants and Senior Embedded Software Consultants to join the development of next-generation ECU software platforms in Eskilstuna. This role offers the opportunity to work across the complete embedded software stack, from MCU hardware and boot software to RTOS integration and platform services.

You will be part of a highly technical environment focused on building robust, real-time, safety-conscious embedded systems. Depending on your experience level, you will either contribute as a hands-on embedded developer or take ownership of architecture, technical decisions, platform evolution, and complex integration activities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate low-level embedded software for ECU platforms.
• Work with MCUs, bootloaders, device drivers, hardware abstraction layers (HAL), and RTOS.
• Analyze, debug, and troubleshoot hardware/software integration issues.
• Perform verification and debugging using JTAG/SWD debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and trace tools.
• Contribute to software architecture, implementation, integration, and testing.
• Optimize real-time performance, including scheduling, interrupts, memory, and resource utilization.
• For senior profiles: drive technical decisions, platform architecture, and complex migration activities.

Required Experience

• Strong experience in low-level embedded software development.
• Solid understanding of microcontrollers, embedded hardware, and real-time systems.
• Experience with RTOS and/or bare-metal development.
• Hands-on experience with bootloaders, startup code, memory management, and hardware initialization.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++.
• Experience with Python for automation, scripting, or testing.
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills in embedded environments.

Preferred

• ARM Cortex-M, NXP S32K, or similar MCU platforms.
• Automotive, construction equipment, or other safety-critical systems.
• CAN/CAN FD and diagnostics.
• Functional Safety (e.g., ISO 26262).
• Secure boot, secure firmware updates, and embedded cybersecurity.
• CI/CD, automated testing, and software quality tools.
• Experience with platform, MCU, or RTOS migrations.
